Cathy Pope - Four day Masterclass in Walton on Thames

Wednesday 25th July 2018 to Saturday 28th July

Acquire the postural balance and coordination for great singing.

I feel confident that this 4 day masterclass will be transformative for each singer. I have looked for a long to time to find body work that helps singers effectively and does it in a way that the student can use for themselves after the masterclass has finished. The body work with Ingrid Kottler ties in with my work. When a singer can truly understand a grounded posture for themselves, it becomes much easier for me to show the singer the coordination of the jaw, tongue, face, and neck and body to bring together the various elements that allow the individual singer to flow and shine. Furthermore, the student can understand how to go forward with that freedom after the masterclass is finished.

Scaravelli yoga

Scaravelli yoga is not generally known. Here is a brief explanation.

Vanda Scaravelli realised that using the breath as a facilitator and connecting the weight of the body to gravity, the spine becomes very released and free from within leading to a soft effortless flowing way of moving, rather than forcing the body. It is not Yoga in any accepted sense but rather a cross between Feldenkrais and Alexander. The students will find a beautiful language to instruct their body to self-awareness, physical balance and freedom in movement.

Ingrid Kottler trained as a ballet dancer and danced professionally. She has been practising and teaching Scaravelli yoga for many years. www.ijkyoga.co.uk

"Do not kill the instinct of the body……... Do not look at your body like a stranger but adopt a friendly approach towards it. Watch it, listen to it, observe its needs, its requests, and even have fun." " To be sensitive is to be alive."Vanda Scaravelli
